Straits Quay which is a part of E&O project showcases high end retail shops and posh restaurants. Paid a visit to the delicious group restaurant at Sri Tanjung Pinang, is it delicious ?
Straits Quay isn't that big but it also houses some nice boats.
Signboard needed ? Straits quay isn't that big, but the 'wow' factor is also something important.
Straits Quay with luxury yachts.
Nice yacht, wonder if is it for rent ? If so, still way beyond me.
Is this lighthouse an ornament or it is really functional ?
Enough of the scouting of Straits Quay, time for some food.
Delicious, the main facade is rather plain.
Gloomy weather but it is cold and cozy.
Nice lighting too.
Opening in Sunway Pyramid, it is growing.
Ordered a cup of Mocha(RM9.90) from Illy, originated from Italy.
with a cup of English Breakfast tea.(Rm7.90)
Ordered a Lemon Meringue Pie(Rm10.90) to kick start the feast.
Lemon Meringue Pie with fresh lemon pastry. Looks nice, a mouthful of the meringue, then you rub your tongue against the top of the mouth, I was able to feel the coarse grain of the castor sugar. The meringue is light but one shouldn't feel the coarse grain of the sugar, more work is needed.
The classic hot dog looks nice.
Classic hot with ketchup, mustard and onions(RM 19.90), not cheap.
Checked out the Turkey Ham & Cheese Toasties
Rather plain looking toasties(RM 16.90)
And the verdict ...
(Best of 5 stars)
Food quality: 3.0 stars ( Nice ingredients but the taste is rather bland )
Service: 3.0 stars ( Fair service. )
Food portion: 2.5 stars ( Not fine food portion but not American portion though )
Value: 2.50 stars ( Expensive and the food taste is rather bland, portion-wise is good. )
Overall the experience is not bad, however, the price is on the steep side. Rm20 for a hot dog with just ketchup, mustard and onion with some french fries and coleslaw is too pricey. The ham cheese which is Rm16.90 is also too pricey for just a toast with some turkey ham and a bit of cheese served with a small cup of mediocre salad. Coffee Bean's breakfast sets come with much better salad dressing. Also, a 16% tax ( 10% service tax + 6% government tax) doesn't help too.
