A couple of weeks ago, we went pass this new eating joint( I'm not 100% sure) with quite a trendy name "Old House Cafe Chinese Cuisine 老房子著名小食". We decided to sample the food and give it a try. I'm usually skeptical on overly gaudy design of a restaurant.
Front facade of the restaurant
Once inside the restaurant, the gaudyness of the restaurant furnishing increased to another level. The restaurant tables and chairs are off 'Chinese Antique' design a bit too gaudy for my liking. The lighting of the restaurant can be improved on.
We ordered a host of dishes but most of the dishes are 'hawker food' type instead of the alacarte dishes of most chinese restaurant. Luckily the food menu isn't long winded or complicated.
Fish head(fried) mee hoon(RM12) is okay but I prefer not fried version.
Roasted chicken rice with pork meat ala 'Lor' style
The roasted chicken was served cold, it should be warm.
The gaudy exterior
Rather dark interior with antique style furnitures.
Finally with the lights on, it looks rather impressive.
(Best of 5 stars)
Food quality: 3 stars
Service: 2.5 stars
Value: 2.5 stars
Overall the food is good but a bit too expensive given that we are having 'street-hawker' type food.
